Haridwar is the traditional and most convenient starting point. It's the gateway to all four dhams, has the best transport connections, and allows you to attend the iconic Ganga Aarti before starting your pilgrimage.
The recommended route: Haridwar → Barkot → Yamunotri → Uttarkashi → Gangotri → Guptkashi → Kedarnath → Badrinath → Haridwar. This anti-clockwise route is most efficient and follows traditional pilgrimage order.
Moderately demanding. The main challenge is the 18 km Kedarnath trek (can be done by pony/palki/helicopter). Other dhams involve short walks. Overall, anyone with reasonable fitness can do it with proper rest days.
